I have an Excel sub that uses the Split() function to split CSV data from a cell into an array. However, depending on the version of Excel/OS I'm using, the character used as the line break delimiter changes. Compatibility mode means you're working with worksheets with 65536 rows & 256 columns even tho you're using xl2007/2010. You can go to the File tab, and the first button is 'Convert' - that will leave you with a real xl 2007/10 file, 1048576 rows & 16384 cols. Microsoft Excel 2010 Open Microsoft Excel. Click on the Data tab. In the Get External Data group, click From Text. Double-click the text file that you want to import in the Import Text File dialogue box. Home tab, and hold the mouse over the paste option to preview. To Paste Special: Select the destination cell(s), click the Paste button list arrow in the Clipboard group on the Home tab, and select Paste Special.
Hey,
I think that to do this you would have to write a macro with VBA and here are some examples about how to do this with macro and VBA – as given in these examples - http://superuser.com/questions/714132/split-excel-worksheet-into-multiple-worksheets-based-on-a-column-with-vba & as also given in here - https://www.extendoffice.com/documents/excel/1174-excel-split-data-into-multiple-worksheets-based-on-column.html and see that these examples might be for Excel for Windows but can also be applied to Excel for Mac. Note that these links given above are only given as examples to show how it can be done through writing a macro and may not be exactly apply to your context, for which you may have to do so code writing yourself based on these above examples.

Fixy's answer is crazy. This is easily accomplished by making a PivotTable. Instructions are here:
